The Kootenai Tribe of Idaho announced today that the Best Western Plus Kootenai River Inn Casino and Spa will reopen this Saturday, May 16th.

“We are excited to welcome back our loyal Guests and our great group of team members are looking forward to getting back to work as well” Gary Aitken, Jr., Chairman of the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho said.

“We are very happy that the Kootenai Tribe paid all wages including tips to our team members during this closure”, said Tom Turpin, General Manager.  “Our employees are absolutely critical to our success and I am pleased they were taken care of.

During the nearly seven week shutdown of all but the Guest rooms, the team at the Kootenai River Inn Casino and Spa has been busy working on improvements of the facility while there have been limited Guests.  Things like restriping of the parking lot area, resurfacing of pool area including draining and cleaning pool and hot tub, shampooing the vast majority of all carpeted areas, transitioning the Fireside Casino and Deli to non-smoking Casino and Deli, detailing of all Guest rooms, public areas, etc.  Along with that, the team has implemented enhanced cleaning measures, social distancing protocols in all public areas and installed hand sanitizer stations throughout to insure our Guests and Team are safe.  The Casino rooms will be open from 7am to 11pm Sunday through Thursdays and until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights.  This will allow for detailed deep cleaning after hours.

Masks and temperature checks will be initially required for all Guests and Team Members entering the building.  Guests should be prepared to provide their own masks, as a limited supply will be available.  This will be closely monitored and assessed on a weekly basis through the early stages of the opening.

On Saturday, The Springs restaurant will open at 6:30am, The Casino rooms will open at 7am and The Kootenai Spa will open at 9am.

Update! See what we’ve been up to …

Posted: 4/23/20
To our Valued Guests and Team Members,

We hope you are all doing well and staying safe during the uneasy time in all of our lives.

In our last update in early April, we shared with you our extended closure through the month of April. Since then, we have been working hard preparing for our reopening. We are excited to share with you some of the things our team members have accomplished in the past five weeks. We have shampooed the vast majority of our Guest rooms as well as all the casino rooms and restaurant. The parking lot has been restriped and the pool and hot tub have been drained, cleaned and the floors resealed for your enjoyment. We have also conducted a deep cleaning in our back of the house areas such as kitchen, deli, housekeeping, etc. and repainted certain public areas including The Springs restaurant. We have also made a decision to expand our Non-Smoking Casino floor to include the Fireside Casino and Deli. Our largest room, Kootenai Falls will continue to allow smoking. Along with multiple hand sanitizing stations throughout the entire facility, all of this will enhance our improvements of a clean and safe environment moving forward. This has been done by our amazing team members looking forward to the day we reopen and see our wonderful Guests again.

While we still do not have a specific opening date to announce, we are getting closer to making that decision. We will continue to work on our new social distancing measures that will be implemented throughout our facility and have all of this ready when the day comes to open back up. In the meantime, stay safe and please adhere to the recommended practices shared by our health experts.

We will make an announcement soon so please continue to keep an eye on this page or Facebook.

Thank you,

Tom Turpin
General Manager

Update – 3/18/20

On behalf of our entire Team, we again hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. We would like to take a moment and update everyone on the Kootenai River Inn Casino and Spa’s latest changes to the operation to insure the safety and health of our Guests and Team.

In light of the recent developments, we have decided to POSTPONE our 25th Anniversary Celebration to a later date, hopefully in May. To be specific, the March 25th promotion of $25 pre-loaded bonus play to our current segmented players and the March 31st, $25,000 giveaway will also take place at a later date, hopefully in May.

Things are changing rapidly and we can assure you we will keep you informed of the latest updates here at the Kootenai River Inn Casino and Spa.
